The sleepy village of Drapanos – further inland from Kokkino Chorio and quite high up – is a beautiful location for peace and quiet, with a very small population, a quaint local church St. Pandeleimonas, and one taverna, quoted as ‘almost like walking into somebodies home and just as welcoming’. This village is gradually expanding but will always remain a choice location for peace and quiet. Still to this day the baker drives through the village to deliver bread, as do the local clothes hawkers. Seemingly lost in time, Drapanos surely is pure Crete, with the postcard perfect White mountains in the background.
