New property tax for homeowners: Greek parliament approves new property tax for all homeowners in Greece. This annual tax will be based on the square metres of the property and a sliding scale according to the age of the property. The tax will be introduced in 2011 and will be collected via electricity bills.

High speed ferry link between Crete & Santorini: Commencing 17 May 2011, Mega Jet begin a new high speed ferry connection between Heraklion, Crete, and the island of Santorini. The journey time is 2 hours and 15 minutes and the service runs every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, departing at 8.30am.
Every Tuesday and Saturday, Mega Jet will run a day cruise to Santorini from the port of Rethymnon.
